2 Days in Porto

Why have I never been to Porto before? It has to be one of the great European cities – it’s home to Port – the drink, the food is fab, there’s tons to do and a river runs through it. Although the second largest city in Portugal, Porto feels like a small town and 2 days in porto are perfect to get the feel of it!  Don’t be fooled by the lull of the placid Douro River as it meanders through town. Almost around the corner, lies the rough Atlantic Ocean that saw much activity in Porto’s early days when the Portuguese began conquering the unknown (to them) world.

Porto, these days, draws them in with its UNESCO protected historical center filled with cafes, museums, and […]

10 Best Bits of Anacapri, Italy

It’s only ten minutes away by car from the port, but Anacapri, the other village on the Isle of Capri, is just as charming as its more famous sister – so wave goodbye to the port, you won’t miss it, I promise.

These bits might be a little Capri Palace Hotel heavy, that’s because it really is the only place that should be your home while on the island, unless you have one of your own.

ci vediamo a Anacapri

NB: I was the guest of Capri Palace Hotel. It was absolutely perfect and I can’t stop thinking about the time I had there…a true Best Bit!

Top 10 things to do in Bagan

As we landed into Bagan, we couldn’t help peer out the window of our Yangon Airways (whose motto is “You’re safe with us!”) flight to see what we’d been waiting for. A trip to Myanmar is really a trip to Bagan – it’s always on the itinerary, from your first time or your 50th.  Here are the top 10 things to do in Bagan, including a trip in a Bagan Balloon and a dose of sunrise Bagan.

The crux of your trip will be about seeing as many Bagan temples as you can, make sure you experience both sunrise Bagan and sunset Bagan. There are a few good Bagan restaurants on my list, as well as where to stay in Bagan.

Like the great man-made structures of the […]

New Orleans & Breaux Bridge, LA – The 10 Best Bit(e)s

Traveling through New Orleans to research a piece on the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina for Grazia UK, the Cypriot and I had to eat, right?

Some of the best restaurants in the USA are at home here in the Big Easy, from old and revered, like Commander’s Palace and Antoine’s, to young and chipper, helmed by chefs like Donald Link for his award-winning Herbsaint and casual Pêche and Chef Justin Devllier for his The Petite Grocery.

What I found is that most first-timers to NOLA (New Orleans, LA) want the dishes that were invented here! Loaded with fat, sugar and carbs: beignets, bananas foster, étouffée called my name and I answered with gusto. We didn’t just stop eating in NOLA, but continued the foodfest out in Acadiana – true home […]

A Bit of Grenada – Top 10 Best Bits

Upon arrival at the airport, I was met by ladies bearing chocolate…I dare you to beat that. My first Caribbean Island and I couldn’t think of a better place to begin my adventure than Grenada. The country is filled with spirit; you see it driving down every road. Citizens compete to show off their patriotism using the colors of Grenada’s flag: red, green and yellow. Their excitement at having you as their guest is palpable. Although I was here only a week, I was made to feel like a local. I truly cannot wait to go back.
Here are my top 10 Best Grenadine Bits:

1. True Blue Bay
Russ and Magdalena Fielden, the owners of True Blue Bay, have managed to forge that perfect combination of the authentic and the luxurious […]
