Had a quick jaunt to Milan and discovered an area I had never been before. Boarded the metropolitana at the DUOMO stop and got off at DE ANGELI stop (red line) on my hunt for the best gelato Milano has to offer. Emerging from the station, I found a wonderful pocket of restaurants, shops and the mouth watering Mercato Comunale (corner of Via Wagner and Via Buonarroti). A delish food market with everything you could want and more.
Go hungry and if you don’t have time to walk about, take the metro directly to the WAGNER stop and start eating at the Mercato and finish up at the “best gelato” milanese and then hop the metro back to the Duomo for some heavy duty shopping. That’s my plan for next time.
GELATERIA MARGHERA
Via Marghera 33 02-468-641
Artinfo Magazine clued me into this place and it is good – let me tell you. Worth the trek and you can saunter back to the Duomo (about a 45 minute walk) with the large and not feel guilty.
