Marrakech – Top 10 Best Bits

After visiting the Red City twice in one year and adoring it both times, I know it will have to be an annual pilgrimage. The first time opened my eyes to tastes, smells and sights I had never beheld. So I am dedicating my first ever top 10 Best Bits List to this city in the sand.

1. Mint Tea

A Bit of Morocco: Marrakech 101

“I feel like I am in Venice.”  This thought kept forcing its way into my head during my whirlwind weekend in Marrakesh. Morocco. North Africa. How I could compare this dry dusty desert destination to the very watery Renaissance maritime powerhouse is incredulous even to me. Yet, so many of its ingredients, blended together, conjured up the same gut feeling I had when I was sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Gritti Terrace.  The history, the mystery, the sensuality – all kept bringing me back to La Serenissima.
