The Best Bits London Afternoon Tea Experience – My 5 Favorites

The afternoon tea experience is an English institution and hands-down almost every tourist partakes of it at least once during an initial visit to London. I am one of those who keeps on partaking! I moved here years back and I still adore the whole ritual of tea! You would think that after living here for so long, the sandwich, scone, cake combo would become boring. Anything but!!

Now artists, designers and iconic British companies are all getting involved, which means that you could have tea almost every day and not get bored. Here are a few of my favorites at the moment!

The Langham
I just have to start with the Langham Hotel. For those of you who might not know, there would be no afternoon tea if […]

Best Bits London – Summer Cocktails 2017!

Not all of us are lucky enough to sip a Pomada in a cave overlooking the Mediterranean on Menorca. Some of us live in London, but we can bring a little of that Southern European sentiment into our daily lives with just a sip of these summer cocktails.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of my podcast, Best Sips Worldwide, I give you one of my favorite posts of the year – the Best Sips this aestival season.

COCKTAIL TRADING COMPANY
1. I had to begin with a cocktail off the recently launched, brand-new menu from Andy, Elliott and Olly of The Cocktail Trading Company (my first ever podcast!). Both beautiful looking and tasting, with ingredients such as Tapatio Blanco Tequila, habanero-apricot sherbet, and spiced corn orchata, we’ll all be […]

A Bit of UK: Ferries are the way to go!

I can’t comprehend why the adjective “Jet Set” still equates to being cool. I admit the idea of grabbing a jet to parts known and unknown still has some caché. The reality of air travel is quite the opposite, as we all know. Even if you’re flying first class, it can still be a hassle. No frills or furbelows when leaving from Stansted Airport in London, that’s for sure.

A day trip to the Isle of Wight, with a bunch of my favorite bloggers, confirmed that we have it all wrong. “Ferry Set” is how I want to be described from now on! It’s so simple. In fewer than two hours, you can pop a train to Southampton, grab a cab to the port and be […]

Best Bits London: 10 Great Stalls at Portobello Road Antique Market

It’s hard not to compare Portobello Market today with what it used to be, even just ten years ago. Gone are the days when you would see stalls lining the streets with tables laden with knick-knacks next to silver next to china. Arcades stuffed with antique jewelry have given way to pies shops, cupcake cafes and high street fashions. Most of the dealers I knew are long gone – some selling online or at fairs all over the country, but no longer at home on Portobello Road.

Saying all that, it’s not all doom and gloom. The Cypriot and I decided to head down to Portobello Market last Saturday to see if there were anything we could find among the global brands that had moved in.
Happily we […]

Untitled – Winter is Coming?

The first drink on the menu is called Snow – but it’s March, no? With ingredients not usually found in a standard cocktail, such as clay and chalk, one would think Snow wouldn’t be heralded so brazenly at the top of the menu, but with only twelve drinks on the menu, there really is nowhere to hide.

I haven’t ingested either material since I was a child, and that was definitely not on purpose. If this wasn’t the newest venture from cocktail alchemist Tony Conigliaro of 69 Colebrooke Row and Bar Termini fame, I would probably not have ordered it, but here I was at his newest venture, Untitled, about to take a sip.

I am loathe to call it a bar as there was nary a bartender in sight […]

London Guide alla Intercontinental Hotels – Affiliate Bit

I work with the Intercontinental Brand quite often and I have never been disappointed. When they asked me to collaborate by posting their travel guide of London on my site, I was more than happy to share.
It’s a great guide and I hope you come back to use it often!
