Shopping in Whitstable

UK Whitstable

Only spent a long weekend here during the Whitstable Oyster Festival, but it was enough time to eat my way through every type of crustacean and drink my way through bottles of rose.  Shopping in Whitstable can be just as much fun as eating!

Angus Fraser is the owner of this beautiful gallery.  His photographs really capture the beauty of their surroundings.  I was so lucky to meet him in the gallery. I wish I could post a photo but they can’t be copied.

Eating in Whitstable

Every meal was amazing in its own way, except one…Wheelers – the most famous one!  They had run out of oysters the evening we had dinner there so it was bound to disappoint.  What is an Oyster Bar without oysters?  The ones below were delish though!

WHITSTABLE OYSTER FISHERY COMPANY
Horsebridge CT5 1BU
This was our best meal….crab, lobster, oysters, everything you want in a shellfish meal!

JOJO’S
2 Herne Bay Road, Tankerton, Whiststable, CT5 2LQ  01227 274591
Slightly out of town, but a really nice walk. The sandwiches and salads are divine – didn’t have the main meal myself but here it is great.

    Hey Susan,

Thats a shame you felt like that about Wheelers, its is one of the best sea food restaurants in the South East of the UK, and to be fair, running out of oysters during the festival is no surprise. They are very picky about the ones they use. Remember true natives are not available during the festival. Did you also check out The Sportsmen yet, the Michelin star place outside of town in Seasalter?

Hey there, You are so right! I need to change that as I have been back since and it was fantastic. It really is a Whitstable must experience place! Thank you for calling me on that! Susan
